Most Common Forms needed
for Tax Prep

W-2 Forms. You should your forms by
the first week of February, contact your employer to
request. Finally, it is always a good
idea to compare the year-to-date amount shown on
your last pay stub of the year with the amount shown
on your W-2. However, if you had any pretax
deductions these amounts will not match.

Forms 1099-INT and
1099-DIV.
These forms report for the interest incomes and
dividends you earned from the banks, brokerage
firms, mutual funds, and companies.

Other forms 1099.
1099 Forms report real estate sales, stock sales,
and Social Security, pensions, IRA distributions,
unemployment compensation, state or local tax
returns, gambling and lottery winnings, or fees paid
to independent contractors.

Form 1098.
These forms report the amount of mortgage, home
equity interest, student loan interests, or the
qualified tuition expenses.

Identification.
Bring
along your drivers license or state ID and your
Social Security card.
